Nubia DuVall is a writer and journalist in New York City. Her editorial work has been featured in national and local publications, covering the arts, travel, consumer products, women's lifestyle, and health.
She graduated from Barnard College in 2004 with a degree in English and Religion. After graduating, Nubia moved to Taipei, Taiwan; she lived there for almost 2 years as an English teacher. While living in Taipei,
Nubia studied Mandarin, performed her poetry at open mics, guest starred on the Mtv Asia show, Chit Chat, and penned a dozen short stories about her travels in Asia.
After returning to the states in 2006, Nubia began working at Real Simple magazine as an editorial assistant. Wanting to write more than just standard magazine editorial,
Nubia started the blog, The Disconnection: Encounters with Strangers, which is updated weekly with her true (and often humorous) encounters
with and observations of strangers in New York City. Other writers from across the country and abroad have contributed their true stories to her blog since its inception in April 2007. Besides writing like a mad woman, Nubia also enjoys painting and photography in her spare time. |
